Muckle Toon chosen to host stage of global relay
Langholm is to play its part in a global event spanning nearly 5,000 miles and involving 18 countries.
And the organisers of the world’s longest non-stop relay are looking for folk from the Muckle Toon to adds their names to the history books.
The Running Out of Time Relay is an eye-catching and ambitious preliminary to November’s United Nations COP27 conference, which will see world leaders gather in Egypt to discuss climate change.
From the September 30, thousands of runners, cyclists and sailors will join together for an epic, record breaking relay from Scotland – where the last global climate conference was held – to Sharm El Sheik.
The aim is to help deliver a message from young people across the world on climate action.
There are 732 stages in all – but one of the first of the UK section will stop in Langholm on October 31.
