CIARAN Park of Langholm Academy volunteers twice a week at Langholm Day Centre.
Sandra Graham, manager, told him that after the day centre was refurbished, they hoped to buy a therapy bed.
He decided to do a fundraiser for them with help from Joshua Thompson, a fellow S3 pupil.
Ciaran has played wheelchair basketball for three years with Carlisle Panthers and thought it would be nice to hold a wheelchair basketball match to show his peers how it is played and have a dribble and shoot competition.
He arranged the wheelchairs and basketball equipment, booked the assembly hall and arranged a prize for the winner.
He ran the competition on the last day of term before the Easter holidays. He demonstrated to his peers before they had a go.
On the day four of the day centre members and staff came to watch and participate. Ciaran raised £87.92.
Thomas Scott, S5, was the winner and won five tickets to a home game of the Glasgow Rocks professional basketball team.
