Canonbie, October 2022: Anthony Lane, a Church of Scotland Elder, is cheerfully discussing the forthcoming bicentennial celebrations of Canonbie United Parish Church with our man from the E&L.
Events being planned, he says, include ceilidhs, movie nights, Songs of Praise services, a supper evening with jazz music, and a special Bake Off contest using recipes from 200 years ago.
The celebrations, he adds, are to be kick-started on Saturday morning with a bouncy castle and soft play session for the kids.
