Holiday of a lifetime for these Langholm lassies has given them the travel bug!
Four Langholm friends namely Marti Borthwick, Evelyn Coombes, Angela Foster and Kate Richardson recently embarked on a trip of a lifetime to the other side of the world to visit Australia and New Zealand.
After a 17-hour non-stop flight from Heathrow, three days were spent in Perth, Western Australia exploring the area where, on a visit to beautiful Rottnest Island we were lucky enough to see some Quokkas which are small marsupials, unique to the Island.
Ulura was the next stop where we found ourselves in the middle of a red desert with the temperature hitting 40 degrees. This is where we learned the Australian salute but luckily, on good advice, we had purchased fly nets! Uluru is a special place and the changing colours of the rock at sunset will never be forgotten.
We next headed north to Cairns which had just days before been hit by a cyclone, but all was back to normal by the time we arrived in the semi-tropical city.
