ON FRIDAY evening, as the country prepared for the onslaught of the latest named storm, Arwen, Eskdale and Liddesdale too battened-down the hatches and prepared for the worst as the region was firmly in the amber warning area.
In the cold light of day, after a night of incessant high winds, the damage was obvious. Hundreds of trees down, power outages, entire woods flattened, structural damage, roofs off and Langholm entirely cut-off with trees blocking every road into the town.
