Scotland’s second largest social landlord is also “not considering the Murtholm site at the moment”
As a follow-up to housing questions, we posed to Mr David Stevenson following the housing survey done locally we asked Wheatley Homes South a series of questions. After the transfer of houses in Dumfries and Galloway from the Council to Dumfries and Galloway Housing Partnership some years ago, these were eventually transferred to Wheatley Homes, which is now the ‘owner’ of what were the council houses across Dumfries and Galloway.
Question: I wonder if you could let me know if you have any plans to build housing in Eskdale which includes Eskdalemuir, Canonbie and Westerkirk as well as Langholm?
At the moment, we have no plans to build housing in Eskdale, Eskdalemuir, Canonbie, Westerkirk or Langholm. Wheatley Homes South is building 800 new homes across the region by 2026. In September last year we completed on 47 homes at Springholm and 89 new builds at Heathhall. We are currently on site at Johnstonebridge for the delivery of 33 homes. These are expected to be completed in early 2026. We have two sites due to start at College Mains, Dumfries, building 44 homes, and in Leswalt, Stranraer where 56 homes are being built.
