Eskdalemuir hotter than Europe, and June heatwave to continue
Our region has experienced some of the warmest temperatures in Scotland this week – with the June heatwave likely to continue into the weekend.
Eskdalemuir recorded a sizzling 29C on Monday – hotter than Paris and Rome – as warm air from the continent held the UK in its grip.
On the same day Scotland’s top temperature was registered just 60 miles away at Threave, near Castle Douglas, where the mercury reached 30.7C. South of the border, Chertsey in Surrey was officially the UK’s hottest place, reaching 32.2C over the weekend.
