Blackburn & Hartsgarth owner says it’s a possibility
Could former farmland on Langholm Moor one day become home to the Eurasian Lynx?
The new owners of Blackburn and Hartsgarth believe it’s a very real possibility.
Oxygen Conservation bought the 11,390 acres from Buccleuch Estates earlier this year and say it may offer the most potential for positive impact of all the company’s portfolio.
Writing in the company’s newsletter, Managing Director Rich Stockdale says the area surrounding Newcastleton is often a missed feature of the UK.
“This expansive canvas provides enormous potential for positive environmental and social impact, principally through the capacity for the development of one of the biggest onshore windfarms in the UK, storage of up to 750,000 tCO2e through woodland planting and peatland restoration, and creation of one of the biggest and most exciting conservation projects in the UK through landscape-level connectivity” he wrote.
