Angela, Kate and Sheena have all worked in a job they loved
By Mairi Telford Jammeh
Three health care assistants who have worked for many years at the Thomas Hope hospital in Langholm are celebrating their long service.
Kate Richardson started work at the hospital in 1988 with Sheena Reid shortly after and Angela Foster in 1989. Angela initially started there as a relief assistant but became a permanent staff member later.
All three loved their jobs with Kate working in the day hospital for ten years and Sheena in the Alzheimer’s unit for 15 years before it was closed because of the Covid pandemic.
Over the years the three worked at the hospital – Kate is still there but the other two have now retired – they saw a lot of changes. Initially there was little in the way of lifting equipment but that changed for the better over the years and staff were given lots of training during their time there which had to be kept up to date.
