A big Hello and Happy 2022 to our readers. I’m really looking forward to finding out about all the issues that are most important to you in the months ahead and to discovering as much as I can about Eskdale and Liddesdale. A little bit about me.
I’m a Borders girl and grew up in farming life, surviving lambings in Selkirkshire and then Berwickshire, where I also spent many holidays tattie howking and shawing nips. I love horses and dogs and reading and writing. I raised my family in Annandale and most recently in Carlisle and it feels very good to be driving back across the Border to work every day. Early last year, I returned to my broadcasting work after a long spell away working in the holiday business and running events.
I’m currently working part-time for the BBC in Dumfries, reporting weekly from the Court and delivering local news bulletins on BBC Radio Scotland. And I’m hoping that my work with you in my new role as Community Editor on this paper will give me an even more enjoyable working week. Our office door is always open so please come and say hello; we have biscuits. Bring us your ideas and interests for the paper, we’re always looking for happy and positive stories to cheer us up, and for new contributors too!
