Nick Jennings’ foresight puts Eskdalemuir in the running
The Upper Eskdale Development Group are finalists in the Scottish Green Energy Awards. They were nominated for an award for the work done by their former lead Nick Jennings.
Nick worked from 2012 onwards to secure the purchase of a community share in Crossdykes Windfarm. The share was finally purchased in 2022 and has since been sold making over £1 million profit for the Crossdykes Community Benefit Fund.
The award winners will be announced at the Scottish Renewables Green Energy Awards Event in Edinburgh at the end of this month.
Nick said:
“This was a number of firsts. We were the first to buy a share in Scotland’s first subsidy free windfarm. We were also the first in the South of Scotland to have such a community share purchase in the South of Scotland and it was a first for the organisation, the Upper Eskdale Development Group.”
