Langholm Rotary Club’s umbrella walk took place on
Saturday without the need for any waterproofs at all. It was a lovely sunny, if cool day for the walkers who set off from Canonbie and Langholm. There were 166 walkers over the two walks supporting a wide range of groups including the Canonbie guides and rangers, Langholm Golf Club, the Xcel youth trust, Westerkirk Parish Library Trust and Langholm Youth Rugby.
The Langholm walk took a different route this year and just after 9.30am the walkers of all different ages set off from the community centre, up Caroline Street and the Wauchope road turning along Gaskells after the Auld Stane Brig. They then headed to the Murtholm over the Skippers and headed down the road towards Broomholm where they took a sharp left up to Jenny Noble’s and home.
The Rotary Club has now asked clubs to collect their sponsorship money in and nominate a person to attend the presentation evening on Thursday 9th May. The Rotary Club adds to the amount raised by each club and this annual event is a wonderful way of fundraising for local clubs and trusts.
