Four members of a Copshaw family are joining forces to show their gratitude to the health teams who gave them great support when they needed it most.
Peter Jackson and his wife Michelle, sister Laura Dinwoodie and brother-in-law Euan have pledged to walk 26 miles round Kielder to raise money for the NHS charity which is officially called The Borders Health Board Endowment Fund but is far better known as “The Difference.”
The charity’s role in life is to enhance patient care in the Borders and that covers a multitude of things from buying gifts for patients who have to spend Christmas in hospital to providing gym memberships for cardiac patients.
In January this year Peter’s mother Linda was admitted to Borders General with pneumonia. He says she owes her life to the dedication of the doctors and nurses.
“After a day or so her condition deteriorated rapidly and she was admitted to the Intensive Care Department with severe pneumonia and sepsis,” he said. “She was on life support for 11 days and if it hadn’t been for the doctors and nurses in the ITU who did not leave her bedside she wouldn’t have survived.
