150 years ago on 31st December, Langholm RFC was founded. It’s a huge milestone for the club especially now, for a wee toon like ours.
It’s been one hell of a journey with huge highs like an unbeaten season in 1958/59 and lows along the way.
At times 150 years of the club felt like it just might not be possible.
But with that muckle toon spirit and a lot of hard work, grit & determination both on & off the pitch by committee, volunteers, coaches, players, officials, tea ladies, bar staff, physios, groundsmen, tradesmen and the support of the town here we are celebrating this monumental occasion.
An anniversary dinner was held in September and hopefully we’ll be able to continue the celebrations as best we can in light of covid.
It seems an appropriate time and the marking of such an occasion to take a moment to remember all those who have been a part of the club who are no longer with us.
There are too many to mention individually but each and every one of them have played their part in the club’s history and will be remembered fondly.
Thank you to everyone who gives their time to keep the club running and to all those who support the club.
We’d like to wish you all a happy, healthy new year and here’s to another 150 years of Langholm RFC & the crimson jerseys of the muckle toon.
