STEPS are being taken to encourage school pupils to be active during the COVID-19 crisis.
Restrictions are in place on the type of sport and physical activity which can be delivered during physical education in schools.
Annandale and Eskdale Active Schools and Community Sport and Canonbie Primary Parent Council have joined together to buy a range of sports equipment.
Some of this is to encourage children’s activity levels during the current restrictions.
New hockey sticks and balls, a junior tennis coaching kit, netballs and basketballs arrived in the school last week.
Carol Wilson, depute headteacher, said: “One of the first things the children requested during our return to school was to play hockey.
“They are enjoying playing with their friends after such a long time apart.
“This donation has kept the children motivated and they are keen to return to sport, focusing on sharing fitness as fun.
“They have all enjoyed welcoming back to Canonbie our partners within Active Schools and Community Sport who have been supporting PE delivery.”
