‘For older people on their own or people with young children the behaviour can feel very intimidating.’
There seems to have been quite a bit of antisocial behaviour in Langholm recently if social media is to be believed. It takes the form of tipping up bins, kicking people’s doors and being a nuisance to people who have been at the receiving end of it. People feel helpless to do anything much about it.
Councillor Denis Male said:
“It is unfortunate that we see every now and again a group of local youths who think it is exciting to do damage to other people’s property. I have heard of several incidents over the past few weeks that have been upsetting and frightening for residents with doors being kicked etc. Thankfully it is a very small minority and in a small community like Langholm they will be quickly identified and if they keep doing silly but possibly dangerous acts of vandalism then they should be reported to the police.” Lyndsay McGoldrick of Police Scotland said that there have only been two incidents of antisocial behaviour in Langholm reported to Police since 1st February.
