At Newcastleton on Wednesday night the hounds and supporters were greeted with some windy weather which turned cold as the sun disappeared.
The Seniors had nine entries and the early leaders were Castle Clansman and Mr Finnegan after the trail split into two lots but by the time they had reached the road they had all regrouped and the first five were tightly packed.
Delta Scope led over the road with Fire Lass in second and Jazzle and Castle Clansman together. As they climbed out of the water and out of sight Jazzle and Fire Lass had about fifteen yards on Delta Scope and Castle Clansman. Jazzle appeared on the finish with about a couple of lengths on Fire Lass and it was nip and tuck all the way down the finish with Jazzle just holding on for the win.
Fire Lady had progressed well for third about fifteen lengths back with Delta Scope taking fourth. Castle Clansman came next but stopped in the water just before the line to let Delta Style take fifth then wandered over the line for sixth.
There were only four entries in the pups but outside Border Reign and Blackthorn were doing the driving with Inspect tucked close in behind with Delta Swift just off the pace. As they appeared on the finish all four were in with a shout but Inspect showed his finishing speed and came through to win with Border Reign in second and Blackthorn third. Delta Swift took fourth.
Trails were at Steel Rigg on Sunday but had to be abandoned due to the hot weather .
