In many parts of Scotland communities are now leading on the development and promotion of tourism in their local area. Langholm and the surrounding areas have been doing this for many years with the volunteer run information hub, organised festivals such as the walking festival, the arts and music festival, the food festival, the Muckle Toon Adventure Festival and the chilli festival which were aimed at putting Langholm on the map.  And we want to do more! Eskdale has a rich natural and cultural heritage with archaeological sites going back thousands of years as well as musical events and bands based in the Muckle Toon. We have a lot to celebrate and share with visitors and people have been trying to improve the facilities and activities for visitors to do in the area as well as work with and co-ordinate accommodation
