LANGHOLM bouncer Ben Ewart was delighted to win gold when competing DMT (double mini-trampoline) at a British Gymnastics final in Birmingham last weekend.
Ben won his medal at the trampoline and tumbling regional team final/National Development Plan (NDP) semi-final.
All the competitors must qualify at regional level previously and Ben, along with several others from his club, represented the North of England team.
Ben, and five others from the Carlisle club produced some outstanding performances over the weekend to take away seven coveted medals in total in both trampoline and DMT events.
Ben completed all four of his DMT passes to top the leader board in the men’s 15/16yrs FIG (International Gymnastics Federation) development category, competing against the top qualifiers from all the other regions in the UK.
He has now qualified to compete at the British trampoline and tumbling NDP finals in Coventry next month.
He trains DMT with the club only once a month in Penrith because the Carlisle club venue is not large enough to accommodate the runway needed to compete this discipline.
This year he has taken a break from competing trampoline to concentrate on his Higher exams at school but he is still training with the intention of bouncing back into form in the autumn.
