THE Common Riding concert for the Langholm and Canonbie Schools Cluster was held in Langholm parish church on Monday evening.
The occasion was compered by Michael Bell, who welcomed Cornet Henry Jeffrey, his right and left-hand men Iain Little and Stuart Murray and Graham Cockburn, 1514 president.
Lauren McLean-Gill gave a speech and the children sang some songs, including 100 Pipers and Langholm’s Great Day.
Mr Cockburn presented the awards to the overall art competition winners: Jessica Smith of Canonbie; and Martha Brown of Langholm.
The Cornet presented the other prizes. P5 mathematician of the year: Ava Greig, Langholm and Robbie Graham, Canonbie; P5 writer of the year: Rose MacLeod, Langholm and Janie Hall, Canonbie; P7 Glenzier best buddy award: Kayla Smith, Langholm and Jenna Robb, Canonbie.
Endeavour: Katie Henderson of Langholm won the Jackie Borthwick cup; Canonbie P1/2 Sophia Robertson, P3/4 Daniel Stevens, P5/6 Lucy Carson.
Athlete of the year: Ashton McKinnel, Langholm; cross country runner of the year Ryan Wilson, Canonbie. Gymnast of the year: Susu, Langholm and Grace Ellwood, Canonbie. Netball player of the year: Max Winter, Langholm.
Canonbie Pocket Rockets: Jenna Robb, Jessica Smith, Alice Turner, Alice Couper, Kara Waitt and Kirsten Waitt.
Footballer of the year: Ryan Warwick, Langholm; Matt Hall, Canonbie.
