Copshaw Common Riding fills the heart and mind with something only the initiated understand
It was the kind of day when the weather just didn’t know what to do with itself, so settled on offering up a bit of everything. Blue skies one minute turned to glowering clouds the next and the wind though intermittent was strong and gusty enough to force the cancellation of the bouncy castle planned for the Garden Party later in the day.
Copshaw is well accustomed to such weather vagaries so the loyal legions following their brand new Tub just tucked a rainmac into their saddle bags and got on with the job.
By common consent it was a great day – another Copshaw Common Riding classic to add to the annals of event’s 25-year long history.
Sophie Mitchell cut a real dash as Tub 2023, bringing her own unique style to the traditional outfit and supported ably by Smitchell’s Merry Archers, distinctive in their green garb amidst a sea of yellow.
