Blanket 20mph limit for all Langholm streets
plus more parking restrictions on the High Street
Further to Councillor Male’s attendance at the A7 Action Group Meeting held last week, we report on its findings
1. Langholm Waiting Restrictions Order –
This Order would see double yellow lines implemented at either end of the High Street, in a bid to ease congestion on the busy A7 through the town.
Transport Scotland received a very small number of objections to this proposal and those objections received have since been dealt with.
Discussions have been held with Dumfries and Galloway Council to look at an alternative plan to allow the waiting restrictions to be implemented but hopefully that won’t be required. Some of the existing waiting restriction markings are faded resulting in cars being parked all day particularly in 1-hour maximum sections.
An agreement has been reached between BEAR Scotland and Dumfries and Galloway Council that, at the time the restrictions are implemented, and yellow lines installed, the 20mph speed limit for Langholm will also be applied.
Councillor Male confirmed that progress had been made concerning the objectors and it is intended to implement the waiting restrictions during 2024/25.
