Advertising feature. The demand for wood flooring has increased dramatically over the last decade or so, and Timberland Flooring, a group that began over 10 years ago and is arguably the largest supplier of specialist timber flooring rose to this demand and remains at the forefront of the most fashionable way for homeowners to self improve their homes.
Wood flooring is made from hardwood, a natural material that will last a life time. It is durable and a popular choice for new modern homes that are built today. Wood floors are installed into new homes by builders as wooden flooring creates a modern, clean and open environment.
They also bring with it certain benefits that you may not be able to get with carpets per se. Wooden floors are so easy to clean, just grab a mop and after a few swipes it’s gone, carpets on the other hand retain stains much longer than you’d want them too and they’re so difficult to get rid of.
Rental properties are now almost always kitted out with wood floors because it’s simply easier to maintain them and keep them spic and span. Carpets can hold onto dirt, hair of pets and dust mites when wood flooring simply negates this problem and stains can be tackled and dispensed with easily.
Wooden floors also carry certain health and environmental benefits and are so much easier to clean than a carpet as vacuuming and dispensing with carpet cleaners and fresheners is both a time consuming and costly process.
Whilst it would be a tad too far to claim that all carpets carry with them serious health risks, it’s obvious that something that clings on to unwanted stains or hair is a breeding ground for germs and bacteria.
For sufferers of breathing conditions, carpets can only exacerbate a problem and it’s easy to see why it’s not difficult to catch an illness or allergy these days, it could quite simply just come from within your own home. Wooden floors are becoming the norm in homes up and down the country as the safer, cleaner option.
This is not to say the positives of wood flooring are simply restricted to the confines of health and hygiene, no matter how fascinating a topic it is I’m sure you’ll all agree. Carpets can look tatty and quite frankly ugly at times. If you go to a showroom now they’re all filled with wood floors for the simple reason it showcases a space a lot better.
They really brighten up a room and whilst not only affordable and fashionable, this type of flooring is modern and hassle free. I’m normally vary wary of things that are stated to be hassle free, because knowing my luck I’ll find a way to make them hassle- full, but with wooden flooring it’s remarkably simple and they’ve become quite the hit in young professional circles.
They’re right on trend, this is not to say that carpets are old hat, you’ll still get a lovely carpet should you be willing to fork out top whack for one, but it doesn’t take long for them to become shabby and bumpy and for your money, you really don’t get as much durability out of them.
Wooden floors are nowadays specially varnished so that they retain their modern look long after you’ve bought it; carpets can frayed and need replacing all too often. The days of tearing about the house with a vacuum cleaner would be over with a wooden floor.
Most purpose built apartments now come with wooden flooring already fitted too, and it’s easy to see why. Their contemporary styling has meant wood floors retain a modicum of elegance long after installation. Wooden floors need to be professionally installed much in the same way carpets do, but once it’s down, you need not worry for another 10-15 years such is its durability.
Carpets do have their plus points, they’re warm under foot and they can complement the decor well in certain rooms, but wooden flooring is the choice and trend of today, they’re the healthy, long-lasting and stylish option and like a fine wine, wooden floors always get better with age.
