What additional help is available?

The Digital Helpscheme is available to certain categories of people.
Older viewers and those in receipt of certain disability benefits may qualify for help from the Switchover Help Scheme. If you are eligible, the scheme will help you to make the switch to digital on one of your TV sets. It will make sure that digital TV is explained to you, that you’re provided with all the equipment that is needed to switch one of your TVs, and that installation is taken care of for you.
This scheme is open to you if you:
- Are aged 75 years or over
- Are eligible for attendance or constant attendance allowance, or mobility supplement, or disability living allowance;
- Are registered blind or partially sighted;
- Have been living in a care home for six months or more.
The scheme is subsidised but eligible people will be asked for a £40 contribution. However, the service is free if you qualify for the help and also receive pension credit, income support or income-based jobseeker’s allowance. If you are eligible, you will be contacted in good time. For more information before then, contact the Help Scheme on 0800 408 5901 or visit www.helpscheme.co.uk.
Please be assured that no one from the Switchover Help Scheme will visit you without making an appointment first.
