RUGBY world chiefs have ruled that Steven Shingler, the son of Jeanette (Ireland) Shingler, formerly of Langholm, is ineligible to play for Scotland and his international future is tied to Wales.

The IRB heard Shingler’s appeal in Dublin last Tuesday. The London Irish 20-year-old fly half and centre claimed he was unaware an appearance for Wales under 20s had decided his international eligibility. The IRB said “The council therefore determined that Steven Shingler is tied to Wales.”
