Warrior wins battle in photo finish thriller

LOCKERBIE horse Dundrod Warrior won the Tradesman’s Handicap over 7 furlongs on the Hawick Moor last Friday.

Twelve of the qualified horses went to the post. It was a great race with some of the best horses and the crowd was treated to a photo finish.

They had to wait for a while before it was announced that Dundrod Warrior, ridden by Callum Pittendreigh and owned by Ian, Jack and Kennie, had won which led to big cheers.

Rocky Hollow, ridden by Ian Crozier and owned by J Brough was so close in second place. Too Elusive, ridden by Dan Morgan and owned by G&B Racing, was third and Eastmill Diamond, ridden by C Mannion and owned by I McAllan and M Black took fourth.

The weather was favourable and there was a great atmosphere with lots of people enjoying the Common Riding celebrations.

The open races were well supported and the track was good after the recent heavy rains.

Results

One and quarter miles: 1 Movens Boy; 2 Ayia Napa; 3 Star Man.

6 furlongs: 1 Just a Joker; 2 Rockafella; 3 Full of Magic.

1 mile: 1 Ikan; 2 Rewritten; 3 Heska.

Saturday results

7 furlongs: 1 Stan the Man – Liam Berridge; 2 The Redskin; 3 Peaky Blinder.

One and a half miles: 1 Rewritten –Sean Huggan; 2 Ayia Napa; 3 Catch the Pigeon.

1 mile: 1 Rocky Hollow – Eireann Cagney; 2 Moven’s Boy; 3 Gladiator.

6 furlongs: 1 Another Dream – Eireann Cagney; 2 Just a Joker; 3 Full of Magic.
