Hoodies sent packing

THE Langholm summer darts league restarted after the Common Riding break with a double-header at the Buck between the Fellas and the Hoodies.
Both teams were keen for the points but the experience of the old hands proved too strong for the young pretenders who, in fairness, were short of some influential players on the night.
The end result was two numbing defeats for the Hoodies and means the end of their chances for league success this year.
The first match began badly for the Hoodies and just got worse as their opponents powered to a 5-1 lead in the singles. The match was decided in the pairs with the advantage falling 2-1 to the Fellas and there was no quarter given in the last three legs as all went against the youngsters.
There was a brighter start for the Hoodies in match two with a victory for Simon Tweddle in the first leg but none of his team-mates was able to follow suit, so it was 5-1 yet again.
The men won the first of the pairs, ensuring there was no chance of a shock defeat and, although the lads took the next two legs, their confidence seemed to disappear and they eventually lost 9-3.
The Fellas move to the top of the table on 94 points and must await the result of PollyAnna’s v the Lasses to see how tight it will be at the top before the crunch match next week.
