Nine women competed and those who went out in the morning fared better than those playing later in the day when it clouded over and began to rain very heavily. Marjorie Pringle, who played early morning, romped home with a score of net 66, cutting her handicap from 24 to 22.

Morag Pool came second with 78, keeping her score very consistent with previous cards, and third was Susan Bremner with net 84.

Both Pauline Irving and Marjorie were in the money that day, splitting the kitty for twos, Pauline on the 9th and Marjorie on 13th.

In the club championship competition the second round draw was: Susan v Shirley Borthwick and Marti Borthwick v Morag, with the final round being between Shirley and Marti, which Marti won.

In the club scratch championship draw, through to the second round were Marjorie v Susan and Shirley v Marti.

The final round was Marjorie against Marti and Marti won again to become both Langholm women’s club and scratch champion.

On June 29, six women competed for the Calwell Cup. Marti came in first, with a net 69, cutting her handicap to 23.

None of the other competitors even came close to her that day as she ripped the course apart.

On July 7 six women competed for the Stewart Cup, this time a stableford competition. Although both Susan and Marti came in with 31 points, it was Marti who won after the countback over the last nine holes.

Third place went to Pauline, with 28 points, her play now steadily improving since acquiring new clubs.

The women are currently competing for the Mid-Summer tankard – three 18-hole competitions over three Sundays and are looking forward to their trip on September 15.
