HARROW flyer Craig Fleming is favourite to make it a title double in the 90m sprint on the Castleholm track tomorrow.
But Fleming will not have it all his own way in the race – sponsored by Edinburgh Woollen Mill – with Greg Turnbull of Jedburgh in contention.
There have not been many runners from Langholm over the past few years but two teenagers have started this season on the Border circuit.
Jordan Maxwell is entered in the 90m youths’ handicap and is off 9.5m, but is giving away marks in his heat up to 27m .
Iain Little has already picked up place money this season but will find it tough on the tight Castleholm circuit off a mark of 40 metres in the 800m youths’ race, with only one competitor behind him.
Iain is also in the youths’ 1600m handicap and is back marker on 85m, with the top runner on 350m.
The 90 metres open handicap runners are competing for prize money of £1,200 and there will be eight heats, then cross-ties and final.
In the open 800m handicap the class act is Colin Welsh of Kelso who runs off scratch.
There are open handicap races over 90, 200, 400, 800 and 1600 metres and the youths have a choice of 90, 200, 800 and 1600 metres.
The Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling has an 11 stone and under, 15 stone and under, an all-weights, plus a youths’ 15 and under.
