Sellafield staff have worked for more than three-and-a-half million hours without a lost-time accident.
Throughout the whole of last year employees from several departments at the site reached 3.6m hours without an accident resulting in time off work.
Kliss McNeel, Sellafield health and safety director, said: “Congratulations to everyone across our functions on achieving this safety success.
“Keeping safe requires constant vigilance and commitment – our teams have shown this.
“There is a wide variety of work undertaken by employees who work in functions.
“Although many employees are office based, there are still many safety considerations and people moving around on a daily basis, so there is no room for complacency as 29 per cent of lost-time accidents we had last year were down to slips, trips and falls.
“More than 1,000 of us work in functions supporting our operational colleagues. To reach 18 months without a lost-time accident is a great achievement.”
