WE CAME to Langholm on February 14, 1956. At least, Wanderer showed face that day, while Mary arrived in August and two wee lassies came along a few months later.
In those days the Muckle Toon and the Wanderer were strangers to one another. Eskdale was a maze of paths, tracks, trods, trails, rides and routes because everybody walked or cycled and thrived on it. Nowadays, there are still many enthusiastic people around.
