SOMEONE who, for 65 years, has been involved with Langholm Amateur Operatic & Dramatic Society decided it was time to share her memories and give an insight into the history of the LAODS.

Marion Pool has completed her book Magical Memories in Music and Drama 1944-2011

The result is a fascinating book full of memories, not only for Marion Pool, its author, but also for all those faithful followers of this exceptional society which is now an integral part of the Langholm scene.

I was asked who had painted the portrait of the Hawick-born former Langholm Academy teacher Francis George Scott, whom I’d mentioned in last week’s jottings.
