A stooshie upon my roof

THERE was I, watching and writing about the jackdaws in the chimney pot across the road, where they’re still busy feeding the youngsters, and not realising I’d a pair nesting in one of my own chimneys.

What alerted me to their presence there was a right stooshie on my roof one day when six of them were fighting round my T-shaped chimney pot into which the outsiders were trying to enter while the residents fought them off. Birds have a sair fecht trying to raise a family, I’m realising.
