MAY I take this opportunity of thanking everybody who has played a part in making this year’s walking festival such a success.

In particular, I would like to thank the landowners and farmers who allowed the many visiting walkers to walk over their land and the hotels and B&B establishments who looked after our visitors.

A special mention must also be made of the women from Ewes church fellowship and the staff of the Buccleuch Centre who, once again, provided our visiting walkers with such wonderful teas.

I also must thank the members of Langholm Masonic Club for looking after us at the informal function on Friday evening and the caterers from Magic Moments for their superb buffet on Saturday evening.

The youngsters from Centre Stage Theatre Group gave a superb performance of The Moorland Musical, assisted by Rory Macleod and members of the moorland project team.

Finally, can I thank the Langholm walks group committee, walk leaders and assistant leaders and the staff of Langholm Initiative for all their hard work in making this such a successful walking festival.
