Remembrance Day parade

MAY I thank everyone who made the Remembrance parade and service such a success.

Thanks to the Rev Scott McCarthy for the excellent service in the church and at the cenotaph. To Sheila Calvert and Elma Aitken for the poppy and flower arrangements in the church.

Thanks to the two lesson readers, Luke Bell of the Scouts and Davie Patterson of the RAF police, just home from Afghanistan.

A big thank you to both our bands – the pipe band for leading the parade to and from the church, under drum major Rickie Henderson, and the Toon Ban, under the directorship of David Calvert – for playing in the church. Special thanks to the two soloists, Nicole Weatherstone and Craig Irving.

I would like to thank all the youth organisations, fire and rescue service, 107 Lodge Eskdale Kilwinning, Probus Club, Rotary Club, day centre, Pie Club, Castle Craigs Club and British Legion personnel, as well as the Cornet and the three servicemen Derek Nordon, Mark Nordon and Davie Patterson for boosting our numbers on parade.

Thanks to the two stewards Neil Campbell and Morris Graham. Last but not least a big thank you to the bar staff and the Legion club for supplying everyone with a drink and soup, pie and beans/peas. A special thank you to Eleanor and Roger McMurdo for preparing the above and helper Christine Johnstone.

Thanks to all once again for the great success.
