Many thanks to all who helped at annual fundraising

ON BEHALF of the players and committee of Langholm Legion Football Club I would like to express thanks to everyone who helped make our annual golf day fundraiser on Sunday, June 3 a great success.
The weather proved a lot kinder than last year which resulted in plenty of high scores being returned. The winner’s shield was again won by a Maxwell/Tweddle pairing, although this year it was Ben and Simon who succeeded their fathers as champions.
The following businesses and individuals all deserve special mention for their generous sponsorship. Without them the football club would struggle to survive: Buccleuch Group, Ross Calvert, Callum Cuthbert, Dalston Pharmacy, Douglas Hotel, Drove Weaving, Enesco, FTS Dyers, Eskdale & Liddesdale Advertiser, Edinburgh Woollen Mill, Eddie and Linda Gardner, I & M Electrical, Marshall Farmer, Oakwood Nurseries, Langholm Cricket Club, Steven Jarzyna Snr (Pelosi’s Ices), Derek Johnson & Simon Tweddle, Reid & Taylor, Stevenson & Johnstone, Martins Tyres and Autos Ltd, Tanlawhill Farm, Westerkirk Property Services, Cumberland Building Society, Townhead Bakers, Welch & Co, World Group and, always last but never least, Gordon Young. Also a big thank you for the prize donations from EWM, Carlisle Embroidery, Langholm Co-operative, Latimers, The Paper Shop and Tony Little.
Special thanks to all those at the golf club, Bush, Tom, Tony, Jim and too many others to mention, without whom the whole day and its success would not have been possible.
Finally, I would like to thank all those who took part either competitively or socially and helped to raise more than £1,200, a fantastic amount, given the current financial climate. It means we can now look forward to representing Langholm and our supporters and sponsors in the coming season.
Our AGM is at 7pm next Monday at the cricket club. All players, committee or anyone interested in helping, very welcome.
