Help us celebrate 60 years of Langholm’s art club

THIS year is the 60th anniversary of the inception of Langholm & District Art Club and the committee has decided to hold an exhibition in the Town Hall Gallery of the work of past and current members to celebrate the occasion.
The exhibition will be from April 24 to May 8 and will include work by deceased members.
The search is now underway for the names and contact details of anyone who has been a member during those 60 years.
Each current or former member is invited to enter one of their own original art works for display only. None will be offered for sale in this exhibition.
It is hoped that relatives or friends of members who are no longer with us or no longer in the area will submit entries for them.
The art works will be hung the day before the exhibition opens. There will be no hanging charge.
Jim Hunter has agreed to open the exhibition at 7pm on Wednesday, April 24. We very much hope that as many past and current members as possible will enter items to celebrate and share in the joy of the moment and we look forward to your support to ensure an interesting and successful event.
Queries and information may be sent to the address below. It would be helpful to know as soon as possible how many people will be able to take part. Further details will be given nearer the time.
About a month before the exhibition, from March 16 to 30 the club will assist Dr Tom Kennedy with an exhibition of Peggy’s Pictures in the Town Hall Gallery.
The objective is to collect as much money as possible through donations and a raffle for the Alexandra Unit of Dumfries Hospital where his wife, Peggy, received such wonderful treatment.
It will be opened at 10.30am on Saturday, March 16 by Dr Lindsay Martin, a consultant at the unit, with refreshments to follow. Again, your support would be greatly appreciated.
