I WOULD like, through the courtesy of your columns, to thank everyone who voted in the recent Dumfries and Galloway council election.

It will be my great pleasure and an absolute honour to serve all the residents of Annandale East and Eskdale for the next five years.

I am also delighted that, once again, I will be working in the administration group of the council after the decision of the Conservative and SNP councillors to work together and take forward and build on the hard work done over the last five years. At local level I hope all four councillors can work together in harmony to make sure our residents get the best possible service.

It would be remiss of me not to also thank my wife, Ellen, and family for all their help, everyone who helped deliver leaflets, Pete Goodrun for all his hard work and the staff at Glenfirra, Tricia and Anne, without whom the company could not survive.
