Police were fast enough to answer pillow case call

I AM writing to you in response to your article on the front page of the E&L on October 9 about the police and their lack of response and timings to call-outs within Langholm, which I found disgraceful.
I would like to add to this. Some time this year my girlfriend was living down West Street and she was hanging out some washing on a shared washing line.
An hour later there was a knock at the door.On answering the door there was the police informing her that her neighbour above had phoned to say that she watched her put a pillow case on the wrong line and wanting something done about it.
My girlfriend laughed at this and the policeman said that he was not joking but that it was serious.
So, if the people of Langholm are calling about an incident, do what this sad individual did and say your neighbour has put a pillow case on the wrong line and they will be there in no time.
Well done to the police for getting their priorities correct!
