150 YEARS NARROW ESCAPE On Saturday last week, Andrew Fletcher, wire fencer, was proceeding along the street with a pony and cart, the pony took fright at the market place and ran off up the street, Fletcher holding on by the head.

On Saturday evening a few friends of Mr. Wm. Duncan, painter, met in the Commercial Hotel, to present him with a token of regard on the occasion of his leaving Langholm for Australia.

NARROW ESCAPE FOR SEAMEN

Four merchant seamen had a narrow escape last night when their Austin Montego car they were travelling in missed the bend at the High Mill bridge and the car ended up thirty five feet away in the river.
