ANOTHER Boys’ Common Riding picture we have found this week is of the event in West Street in 1951.

Bill Harkness is celebrating his jubilee this year but in 1951 he wasn’t given the honour of carrying the flag but was entrusted with carrying the barley banna.

Along with Bill in the picture is Clark Irving, Cornet, David Calvert with the spade, Stewart Jardine with the thistle and Arthur Steele carried the crown.
