In the picture, taken more than 60 years ago, are Kathleen Devlin, Margaret Christie, Rena Beattie, Alison McNeil, Nina Snowden and Ailsa Irving on the afternoon of the sports.

Ailsa said they would have been aged about 15 or 16. Kathleen Devlin became Kathleen Hall but sadly died more than 20 years ago. Alison became Alison Bell and Nina became Nina Bell. She was unsure about Margaret and Rena.

Ailsa said seeing the photo on the front page of the paper of Nina with her husband Lennie receiving his British Empire Medal, presented by Lord Lieutenant Fiona Armstrong, reminded her of this old picture she had.

Ailsa lived in Canonbie as a teenager and attended Langholm Academy. She left home at 18 to work in Glasgow for 16 years before moving to London 41 years ago. She still likes to keep in touch.
