THIS week’s photo came to us with a query – can anyone give us an idea how far back this Common Riding was?
This postcard shows the Common Riding fair crying, but does anyone know the year?
All the men have caps or trilbys on and you can count the women and children on your fingers, almost.
There are initials on Latimer’s shop and also Malcolm’s that might give a clue. It could also be grandfather or perhaps great-grandfather Elliot crying the fair.
Unfortunately, the Cornet is looking down but the left-hand man is quite clear, if anyone recognises him.
So please let us know.
