Down Memory Lane

This week we dug very deep in to our archives and found this lovely old photograph of what looks to be the servants at one of the houses around Langholm.

KC memory
Do you know anything about Langholm servants?

The ladies in their white, starched aprons of differing styles, could be the cooks, serving maid and cleaners, along with the housekeeper. And the men in their bowler hats could be the stable boy on the left, coachman, butler or man servants.

We certainly have no idea, but the moment is caught in time.

We are still looking for any old Boy’s Common Riding photographs. We have many from the 1980s and 90s, but could do with a few more from before then. Can you help?

We are also looking for how the Cornet’s house was decorated once elected. We only have two pictures so far, both with “For he’s a jolly good fellow” painted on them, from 1988 and 1990. So we hope you will be able to come up with some more.
