Taken in 1993 of a very wet but still enjoyable Boys’ Common Riding

It was a very wet evening as you can see from the state of the boys but we have it on good authority that they enjoyed it, splashing in all the puddles, just to ensure they were very wet.

Now for an amendment. The photo of the 1948 cricket team placed J Milligan as the first player but several readers have said that it is Tom Calvert, who was a joiner with Milligan’s.

Another reader rang about the Newcastleton fancy dress children; the little girl in the Bingo costume is Sandra Beaty, née Henry and she looked very cute.
