NOW here is a mystery picture, taken at one of Newcastleton’s Royal British Legion fancy dress parades.
The boy on the left is holding a sign stating most original, so we wondered whether that applied to them all.
We are not sure what the next lad is, with his bowler hat and box, but the little lassie has Bingo on her hat, and her skirt is made up of bingo cards.
The next lad is a gollywog from Robertson’s jam, Noddy is seated in the car, a lad wearing a beret and Union Jack flag may be a Beefeater and the last one a genie.
We have no names nor a date, so hope you will come forward and enlighten us.
We have been handed in a boys’ Common Riding photo from 1993 and hope you will continue to bring in more. We have found out that in 1983 the flag, made by the late Matthew Ewart some years before, reappeared. It had been preserved by ex-Cornet John Young, who allowed the Eskdaill boys to use it. Maybe someone knows where it is now or what happened to it.
