Turbine firms have to pay communities

WINDFARM developers in Dumfries and Galloway are going to be forced to pay grants to communities by having a planning condition imposed on them.

The council’s planning, housing and environment committee has recommended that in cases where permission for windfarms is granted, there should be a requirement through a Section 75 in the planning process for the developer to make an appropriate financial contribution under the community benefits from windfarms policy.
