Shooting dog is poisoned

A SPANIEL belonging to a shooting party has died after being poisoned.
PC Allan Patterson told Newcastleton community councillors that the shooters were up at Hermitage when the dog ran into a woodland. It came with a bleeding nose and within four hours it was dead.
He said wildlife officers were investigating but he admitted tracking down any culprit would be difficult.
