PUPILS at Canonbie primary school celebrated St Andrew’s Day a week early because they will be on holiday next Monday.
Teacher Gemma Blair and her P3-4-5 class have been studying Scottish history and organised the celebrations which were held in front of the rest of the school and some parents.
The pupils of P3-4-5 gave a brief history talk before Langholm pipe band members Pipe Major Craig Irving and drummer Lennie Bell played for the company.
They showed the children the shield which the pipe band won at Braemar and the pupils asked a variety of questions about the shield, band members, their dress and instruments. Some of them were able to have a go on the bagpipes and drum.
Gifts were given to the two pipe band members by Finley Mitchell-Dell and Jack Little.
