Progress in fight to save 300 MoD jobs

THE case put for the retention of the munitions depot in Longtown has been strengthened after a meeting with defence minister Peter Luff, says Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell.
Mr Luff has promised to give careful consideration to arguments to save 300 jobs at the depot. The Ministry of Defence (MoD) plans to close the Defence Storage and Distribution Agency site in 2014, transferring storage responsibilities to Kineton in Warwickshire.
